Surgery carried out by Simon Moyes
You will be given all the information that you need, so that you make an informed decision on the best course of treatment for you. This will take into account your lifestyle and your physical expectations (does your job depend on recovering a high level of fitness quickly, or do you just play the occasional game of football in the park?).

Arthroscopic Surgery carried out by Simon Moyes
Simon Moyes specialises in keyhole – or arthroscopic surgery. This is a highly sophisticated, minimally invasive technique which means you spend less time in hospital and you’re more likely to have a quick recovery. It is ideal for many orthopaedic procedures in joints, such as removing torn cartilage, ligament and tendon reconstruction and smoothing out bone defects.

The surgeon makes small incisions and inserts a tiny camera (an endoscope) into the joint. The image is shown on a video monitor, enabling the surgeon to make a thorough examination of the area. Once the diagnosis has been made, other small incisions are made to allow small surgical instruments to be inserted. The entire operation is carried out while looking at the monitor.

Because the joint does not have to be opened up fully, there is less risk of infection, healing can be quicker, scarring is minimal and there is less trauma to the connective tissue in the joint. It is especially useful to professional athletes who require a fast healing time.

The surgery takes place at the Wellington Hospital in London. Expert staff are dedicated to getting you back on your feet as soon as possible, using the latest physiotherapy techniques and top levels of aftercare.

Simon is available for post-surgery consultations with all patients, so you know exactly how the procedure went, and you can get all the information you need for a speedy recovery
